Taking frequent breaks

I have found that taking frequent breaks when doing something helps my energy levels throughout the day. Just getting up from the computer, taking a break from looking at a screen, and walking around for 5 minutes really makes a difference!

When I have a little free time during the work day I will flip through a few light books that I keep in my desk. Some are poems, others are jokes and every now and then I will break out a crossword puzzle. It just needs to be something that breaks up the craziness and lets me focus without feeling like I am being bombarded.

I take breaks throughout the day, too, and I switch up tasks so that I don’t spend more than about 40 minutes or an hour on any one task. One of my favorite things to do “on break” is go for a walk outside.

I think everyone needs to take breaks from what they’re doing on a regular basis. I try to take a break about once an hour or so for about ten minutes each time.

This is a good idea. I tend to focus on whatever I’m doing and try to get it all done as quickly as possible, so I forget to take breaks. Maybe I will set an alarm to remind myself to take breaks and see if I notice the same benefits you all do.

I’m bad about not taking breaks and just working on something continuously until I either get it 100% done or I’m just so tired of doing it that I can’t stand to do it any longer. Maybe I should start incorporating breaks so I don’t get so fed up!
