Worth the risk?

I am speaking from experience on this. I have had breast augmentation surgery twice. First time was standard procedure and the second time was to fix one side where the stitches had come open. I do not think plastic surgery is worth the risk because death is not something we can come back from. I would rather see my children grow up then look like a barbie.

I had an eye surgery when I was very young and while I don’t remember everything that happened I do remember the feeling of disliking it. I did not like the hospital stay even though the staff was nice, I did not enjoy being away from everyone I knew and I really did not enjoy the treatments after the surgery. If this is anything like other surgeries, even for weight loss I don’t think I could handle it.

It is scary to me that people sometimes die from surgery, even a plastic surgery that is performed often. A lot of people have things that happen that require them to have surgery to fix the problem but I’m not sure that elective surgeries like plastic surgery are worth the risk.

August, I am sorry that you had such a bad experience. I also think that plastic surgery is not worth the risk. There are so many things that can go wrong. I know a woman who now has permanent brain damage from a plastic surgery gone wrong. It is one thing to undergo surgery for health reasons, but to go under the knife for cosmetic reasons is just not worth it to me.

I don’t really think cosmetic surgeries are worth it, either. It’s like I was saying in another thread — after going through all the pain and recovery of a mandatory procedure, I just can’t imagine taking on those risks for an elective procedure.

For me I don’t think it would be a good fit. I am a control freak so being knocked out and then recovering would just depress me to no end. I could understand if maybe it was to fix something that happened that was a tragedy like a fire but when it comes to cosmetics I really thnk we need to learn to feel good in our own skin.

I had breast augmentation surgery many years ago when I was in my early twenties. I had gone through my teens as a somewhat overweight girl, with a big butt and nonexistent breasts. All I could see in my future was rejection after rejection from men, something I sadly had become very accustomed to. And at the time, it was important to me that I get married and have kids and do all those normal things that other normal people did. And I didn’t see any way that was going to happen if I couldn’t even get a date.

My surgeries were quite horrible – I ended up having four surgeries to correct mistakes that the original surgeon had made. Again, at the time it was worth it to me. I got a very nice set, not too big – just right for my physique. I loved them and continued to love them even when they started to get harder and harder and harder because of scar tissue, a problem I have to this day. But you know what? I still love ’em. I wouldn’t part with them now.

That said, I really wish I had had the knowledge then that I have now about how to use weight training to sculpt parts of my body. Had I known that I could build up my shoulders and chest (to a certain extent) at the same time as I streamlined my hips, thighs and butt, I would have done just that and saved my money, my pain, my multiple surgeries, worry about hardness, etcetera. Not to mention the teasing; no matter how hard you try, breasts are not something you can hide. When you don’t have any and then you do, people are going to notice.

Would I do it again? Nope. I’d ‘fix’ my body instead, and hope that out of that I’d develop sufficient confidence to go through life knowing that I look the very best I can look rather than wishing for something I didn’t have. Nice boobs aren’t worth your life.
